Rosacea Home Remedies

Rosacea Home TreatmentRosacea is a skin disease which causes skin to appear red. The appearance of acne-like bumps filled with pus is also a common symptom of rosacea. The redness and pustules usually appear on the face especially the chin, cheek and nose. However, severe cases of rosacea can spread to the ears, scalp, neck and chest.

There is no known cure for rosacea but there are different products in the market that may help in the treatment of rosacea. Skin specialists often recommend antibiotics and rosacea moisturizers to reduce the redness and inflammation caused by rosacea. In extreme cases laser treatment is sometimes recommended.

If natural treatments, laser treatments and antibiotics do not work for you. You may want to try the following alternative treatments for Rosacea. These products can be easily found in your home or purchased at a local supermarket. Many people with rosacea have sworn that these are more effective than other over the counter rosacea treatments.

Apple Cider Vinegar for Rosacea

Apple cider vinegar has been used as a home remedy for different ailments. This has also been known to be an effective remedy for Rosacea. Apple cider vinegar helps in killing the bacteria that causes the inflammation from Rosacea.

Dilute a teaspoonful of apple cider vinegar in a small amount of water and apply to the affected areas. Apply daily and within a few weeks the rash will be gone. Before using apple cider vinegar do a small skin test first to check if you are allergic to the product.

Taking apple cider vinegar with your meals can also help reduce the symptoms of Rosacea.

Licorice Herb for Rosacea

Another effective remedy for Rosacea is licorice. Often known as an ingredient in candies, licorice root extract has been used in skincare products for rosacea-prone skin. Research show that components in licorice can reduce the inflammation and redness caused by Rosacea.

To make a Licorice Mask, mix a little licorice powder with Aloe Vera gel. Apply all over your face and leave on for 10-20 minutes. Rinse. Make sure that you wash the Licorice Face Mask completely. This mask can help reduce the redness, improve the appearance of the skin and prevent hyperpigmentation.

Green Tea for Rosacea

Green tea is known to have anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.  A topical cream with green tea extracts can have a soothing effect on acne-prone skin and help reduce the redness. Using a green tea face mask can help diminish the appearance of thread veins or visible blood vessels on the surface of the skin.

To make a DIY green tea rosacea home remedy, get a green tea bag and hypo allergenic paper towels (you can also use hand towels). Soak the green tea bag in a cup of hot water.  Put the tea in the refrigerator to cool for a few minutes. Do not use the tea while it is hot – this may aggravate the inflammation! Once the tea is cool, soak the towel in the tea and put on your face. Leave on for a few minutes and rinse your face with water. Your face will feel refreshed and the redness will be reduced. This is a quick and easy DIY remedy for Rosacea.
